He's a complicated story... but in a nutshell: a human baby sacrificed to demons for power. The demons decided to torture the child and experiment with new spells using him as the guinea pig. Results include shapeshifting, resistance to magics (malevolent and benign), flight, abilities to see through illusions, etc... However, his default form (the one he always returns to, wanted or not) is the demi human with a scar that will never heal or fade.

Part of an abandoned project I was working on, he became subsumed into my psyche and is the second alter ego I created. Pegasus is a godling. Messenger of the gods, he is a fairly straightforward character: he flies, has a glowing symbol on his forehead, and loves to mule-kick anyone who really annoys him.

Tao is a mystery, wrapped in a puzzle, shrouded in misdirection, tied in a Gordian knot of chaos. He is neither good nor bad, instead he seeks to balance all things. An onmyōji* of no small skill, Tao has been around since before the Heian period ( 794–1185 ). He has served emperors and toppled dynasties, depending on what was needed to keep the balance. He does not hate, nor does he love. He has a shikigami as a companion (folkloric character from Japanese tradition, usually thought of as spirits or ghosts).

*An onmyōji is a magician and diviner. They usually served the imperial courts as the ones responsible for keeping track of the calendar, performing spells of protection, banishing evil spirits, and divining the future. Neither inherently good nor bad, they sought to preserve the capitol. They can summon and control shikigami.

This is my comic book hero. I created him as my contribution to the “Geneti-X ” set the admins on the Digital Genesis board came up with. The four of us were each given an element (a la Fantastic Four). Sever was fire, Namor water, TehPimpmastaGeneral was earth, and I pulled air. Thus Hyperdrive was born. I see him more as a cross between Invisible Woman and Human Torch instead of conforming just to the archtype Sue occupies.

He's an amalgam of some of my favourite characters (Northstar, Quicksilver, Speed, Flash (Wally), Impulse, Iceman, and Havok). He's a speedster - land, air, and water - can breathe in ridiculous extremes (space, underwater, etc) because he breathes ambient light. He can emit powerful waves of light, surrounding himself in an aura of light. He's light-hearted, loquacious, and irreverent. Always willing to laugh and look on the lighter side of things.
